Michelle Mickle, staff appraiser at Anderson & Carr, Inc. , appeared before the Palm Beach Town Council on Wednesday, October 10th as an expert witness representing two homeowners in their effort to protect their homes’ property values. A neighboring school had plans to build a parking lot that backed up to the bordering single family homes with no buffer. Mrs. Mickle performed a study showing that single family homes that are adjacent to parking lots experience a loss in market value.
Mrs. Mickle’s presentation of the market study was able to convince the Town Council that because the homeowners’ interests were being negatively impacted, they should not approve this parking lot. The council ruled that the decision would be deferred until all interested parties; school, council and affected homeowners, could agree on a viable solution for all involved.
